Investigation: This 2005 Trump government form wasn't the key. Off by a long shot.

MSNBC have Rachel Maddow invested hours touting a gigantic scoop: She — or all the more precisely veteran investigative correspondent David Cay Johnston — had gotten her hands on President Donald Trump's 2005 government assessment form.

That arrival — the political universe hypothesized — may hold the key to opening the single greatest riddle encompassing Trump: His monetary issues. All things considered, this is a president who broke with many years of custom by declining to discharge his assessment forms — any of them — amid the 2016 crusade, demanding he was under review.

The arrival wasn't the key. Off by a long shot.

To begin with, the essentials. Trump made more than $150 million in 2005 and paid $38 million in expenses that year, as per the two-page synopsis materials sent to Johnston this week.
